“It’s all of it: The lighting, the costuming,
the music selection, It’s concise. The dance team has
to have a shape.”... “Some of that is
precision, grace, the beauty of the line,” Mr. Bauman
continued, noting that for the great choreographer George
Balanchine “the most beautiful part of the
dancer’s body was the hand.”
“I like to tell people that my job is to say yes to
good ideas. Obviously, it’s a bit more complicated
than that, but, in the end, it boils down to supporting my
co-workers and encouraging them to think outside of the
box: to try new things, to execute them with the highest
degree of production excellence possible, and to keep their
ideas organic to the brand.”
“Our company’s philosophy is about engaging and
entertaining our guests, and using our resources to make
the experience of coming to Madison Square Garden an
event,” Bauman adds; it is this vision that has
driven the venue’s technological improvements.
“Going to Madison Square Garden should be an event.
We’re not going to change anyone’s fan loyalty,
but visitors are going to have an entertaining and
memorable experience.”
“People absolutely connect to it,” this brings
us back from all the popular stuff you listen to everywhere
else you go. Once you hear this, there is a much richer
tapestry of sound, people say, ‘Oh, I get it.’
A large part of the audience at games are adults, and the
moms and dads heard this sound when they were kids.”
